Becky will be celebrating the first anniversary of the Andover Parkinson’s Café on Wednesday, 1st October.
She first started the café because of her mum, who has been living with Parkinson’s since 2013. It hasn’t been an easy journey for her, and after Covid she realised there wasn’t much locally in Andover to support people with Parkinson’s—or their carers. What began as something for her mum has grown into so much more.
Becky started small, but over the past year this has developed into a supportive community. Once a month they come together to share stories, talk openly about the challenges of living with Parkinson’s, or simply enjoy a friendly chat about everyday life. Bowyer Engineering continue to support Becky with her volunteering.
With the help of some amazing volunteers, Chrissy and Lynn, the Parkinson’s Café runs at The Hub in Andover on the first Wednesday of every month from 10am to 12pm. They are a warm and welcoming group, and they hope to keep growing as a safe, friendly space where people can connect, have a coffee, and know they are not alone.
